Retired pastors can serve as mentors to help younger pastors, sharing their experiences and treasured wisdom.   A challenge for young pastors is to learn how to work both effectively and wisely in the first churches they serve. These have observed congregational life as lay persons but have limited experience in knowing the “nuts and bolts” of pastoral ministry.  Often pastoral leadership styles used  previously do not work well in this environment.  Linking the newly serving with the newly  retired will benefit the pastors, their churches and the DCBC.
