MissionServe is Back! WE NEED YOU!
D.C. Baptists, we have the opportunity to partner with MissionServe again. They will be with us June 24 through July 1, 2017 with 150 confirmed and eager volunteers who are coming to help repair the homes of seniors and single parents as well as provide VBS for churches that have the children but need the programming, supplies and volunteers.
As in past years, we need 22 of our churches to adopt a ministry or a work team. By doing so the team would worship with you on Sunday, June 24 and we ask that you agree to provide lunches for them during this week. For more information, please contact Andre Towner at Andre.Towner@dcbaptist.org or at 202.265.1526, ext. 210.
Millennial Leaders Project
Throughout the United States and around the world, there are a growing number of grassroots social movements working to address inequality and injustice in all it's various forms. Many of these movements are being organized and led by millennial generation activists. What often goes unmentioned is the significance of spirituality to these movements, and the young activists within them. Activism is an expression of spirituality for some, and for others it is social engagement. The MLP Summer Conference is a place where the intersections of spirituality, activism, leadership, and social justice are explored and actively cultivated.
Millennial generation activists, leaders and organizers (between the ages of 21-35) who have a demonstrated record of sustained social justice activism are invited to apply. Formal affiliation with a specific religious tradition or community is not required, and people with no formal religious affiliation are encouraged to apply. In addition to a proven track record of service, the only formal requirement for consideration is an interest in the intersections between spirituality and social justice.
The 2017 MLP Summer Conference will offer a structured time for reflection, discussion, community and network building, as well as collaborative learning with other millennials from around the country. Participants will return to their work and homes with new networks and new ideas for addressing inequality in their respective communities and work.
