Aid for Church Leaders with Management Decisions

Christianity Today provides the following resources to help navigate this time of change and uncertainty, Church Law & Tax has assembled a variety of new and existing content to aid church leaders with management decisions. On our growing collection page of coronavirus coverage you’ll find the following:


The purpose of the PPP is to provide funds to help employers retain as many of their employees as possible during this economic crisis.


The PPP final application is now available.  If you believe this is a helpful option for you, it is IMPERATIVE that you prepare your documents so you can apply on Friday, April 3.


In the interim:

  • Visit the Vanderbloemen website at

    • Register with Vanderbloemen so you stay current on the topic.

    • View the webinars to gain an understanding of the program, download PPT slides, and other resources.  These are  “must-see” for every church.

    • Download and complete the spreadsheet to calculate CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program Loan.

    • Once opened, select ‘File’, ‘Download’, ‘Microsoft Exe’

    • Calculate Full-Time Employee (FTEs) equivalents

  • Because you will apply for the PPP loan through your local banking institution, reach out to them and let them know you want to participate in the PPP loan.  If they are not a SBA 7(a) lender, please view the list to see what other institution can assist you.   

    • You WILL NOT apply for the PPP loan through the SBA, but through your local bank.


  • Inquire about what you can do now to prepare for the application process.  Here is a Preparation Checklist from our Bank—PNC. 

Church Online Giving Options

In viewing the websites of many of our churches, we see that churches are providing various ways for their congregants to continue their worship through their giving.  Some of the ways include text-to-give, “Bill-Pay” through your bank, personal check, church website, CashApp, and PayPal.

The Convention is offering eGiving assistance as a “stop-gap” to its member congregations. If you do not have eGiving established as a means for your congregants to contribute during the closure of your church, you can use DCBC’s system to do so. Setup can be completed within 24 hours.
