Welcome to the DCBC

The DC Baptist Convention is a corporate expression of local churches combining their spiritual, physical, and material resources to cultivate healthy congregations. Healthy congregations intentionally grow disciples of Jesus Christ, who in turn make other disciples; they participate in transformational ministry and outreach to their neighbors and communities; they worship God, pray, and proclaim the Gospel with conviction, courage, love, and talent; they welcome strangers with hospitality and fellowship; they share, manage, and distribute God's resources as good stewards; and they give birth to, call forth, and provide nurture and resources for ministerial leaders. In our corporate life, DC Baptists share vital resources, strategies, tools, knowledge, personnel, and spiritual strength to empower each other to embrace God's vision and advance God's reign in our mission field, the Metropolitan Washington DC Region.

I invite you to explore this site to discover God's activity mediated through Baptists in the Washington Region. You will find that DC Baptist are a diverse people from all walks of life, with varied social, cultural, language, and economic identities.

DC Baptists serve in various communities and neighborhoods across the Washington Region. DC Baptists cooperate with and support various expressions of the Baptist mission and witness in the world, including American Baptist Churches USA, the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., the Southern Baptist Convention, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the Baptist World Alliance, among many others.

This Web site will show the DC Baptist organizational strategy and how we hope to accomplish our mission, and realize Vision 2010: Congregations Cooperating in Missions. As you become better acquainted with our centers, staff, officers, specialists and volunteers, churches, and the ministry opportunities and challenges before the DC Baptists, I hope you will be led of the Spirit in discovering how you will partner with us for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Very truly yours,
Jeffrey Haggray
